The game and its match rules
In a ranked match, complete three objectives before your opponents and survive. Each side plays in a separate world, identical block for block. Each player has one life.
Three objectives per match
Both sides receive the same set of three objectives at the start. Each objective has its own completion requirements, shown in the game and identical for opponents.
Watch your progress, choose your route and adapt your plan. The first side to complete all three objectives wins.
One life
In Solo, death means defeat, whatever your current progress. You cannot respawn and carry on in that match.
In Duo, a player who dies leaves the game and becomes a spectator. The other player can carry on and win for the team. If both die, the team loses.
Worlds identical, block for block
Opponents start in worlds that are identical, block for block, with the same spawn points. This applies to both Solo and Duo. Every match uses Hard world difficulty. It cannot be changed.
Opponents do not meet in the same world or interfere with each other directly. After the start, each side acts in its own world and chooses how to tackle the objectives.
Rating and match history
Matches affect your ELO rating, which determines your rank and leaderboard position. The first games are placement matches that help establish your initial rating.
Your profile shows match results and statistics. Track your personal best ELO, and use mcladder+ to open available recordings in the mod and study your decisions and your opponents' routes.
Solo or Duo
Solo is one against one. Duo is two players against another pair, with objective progress shared within each team. Choose your mode in the mod menu before searching for a match.
When neither side finishes
Watch the time
Matches have a time limit, shown by the in-game timer. If the objectives are unfinished when time runs out, each side's overall progress is compared. The side with more progress wins.
Overtime and draws
If progress is equal, overtime may begin when enabled in the match settings. You can still finish the objectives or take the lead. If progress is equal at the final time limit, the match is a draw. A draw does not change ELO.
The match result
The final result and rating change appear after the match data has been checked. Waiting for verification does not mean a draw or defeat. A cancelled match with no rating change is a separate outcome and should not be confused with a draw.
