How to start playing mcladder
In mcladder, opponents complete the same objectives in separate worlds. To get started, install the mod and choose a mode: Solo for one against one or Duo to play with a teammate.
Install the mod
You need Minecraft Java Edition, a licensed account and the mcladder mod. Find the current game version, mod file and installation instructions in the Download section.
- Install the versions of Minecraft Java Edition and Fabric Loader listed in the Download section.
- Download the mcladder mod and put the .jar file in the mods folder of your chosen Minecraft installation.
- Launch the game with Fabric. mcladder will appear in the main menu.
Link your Minecraft account
Launch the game with your licensed Minecraft account. To link it to your website profile, open account linking in the mcladder menu and follow the instructions.
Your website profile shows your results, statistics and match recordings.
Play your first match
Choose Solo in the mod menu and start searching for a match. Matchmaking takes player ratings into account.
Read the requirements for all three objectives before the start. Your opponent has the same objectives and a world identical to yours, block for block. Decide where to start and what to do next. Every match uses Hard world difficulty. It cannot be changed.
Complete objectives and watch your progress. The first to finish all three wins. In Solo, death means defeat: you cannot carry on after dying in that match.
Play Duo with a friend
Create a party and invite a friend with the code. Once they join, choose Duo and start searching. You will face another pair, with objective progress shared within your team.
Each player has one life. A player who dies becomes a spectator, while their teammate can carry on alone. If both die, the team loses.
Rating and placement matches
Your first matches are placement matches: the system uses their results to establish your rating. ELO stays hidden until placement is complete.
After that, wins raise your ELO and losses lower it. Your rating determines your rank. Track your results and personal best in your profile.
Tips for new players
- Read every objective in full, including its requirements. Decide where to start, then adjust your plan as the situation changes.
- Do not risk your life for a small time saving. There is no respawning in this match.
- Rewatch match recordings. Pay attention to your decisions and the moments where you lose time.
